Manchester City started their title defence in style against Arsenal this season, defeating the Gunners by 2-0. However, the whole season is not in front of them and their manager Pep Guardiola seems to have his priorities sorted already.
While behind the scenes of the documentary All or Nothing, the Spaniard has confessed that it is his aim as a manager to curb Manchester United‘s dominance. The Manchester club has been the prime force in English football for decades and they are used to see a lot of success over the years. However, that has changed in the recent times as their “Noisy Neighbours” have toppled them to become a supreme force in top-flight football.
The Cityzens took the Premier League trophy home on a canter last season, beating their city rivals, who ended on the second position in the points table, by 19 points. It was a strong statement made by the Manchester City manager after having a pretty quiet outing in his first season as a gaffer in English football and he has expressed that he will look to do that on a continuous basis.
He said, “We have neighbours who, for 15 or 20 years, have always won.
“I think my biggest challenge as a manager is to change that.”
Talking about the term used to describe his current club as the “Noisy Neighbours” by United’s legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson, Guardiola said, “I like to have a noisy dressing room before a match.
“I feel that animates the players more.”

He added, “What I miss from my time as a player is the locker room.
“It’s the nicest place to be, apart from the pitch, when there are jokes, everyone is all together, they criticise the manager and share the good and bad moments.”
