According to ESPN FC pundit and former Liverpool fullback Steve Nicol, as cited by the Express, Chelsea would be “absolutely bonkers” to let both Eden Hazard and Willian join Real Madrid this summer. La Liga transfer window is open till 31st August and the Spanish giants might look to make late additions in the form of the two Chelsea attackers, as per reports.
Los Blancos have already lured the Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois away from Stamford Bridge this summer and reportedly have their eyes on his compatriot Eden Hazard. However, the latest reports claim that they also have developed an interest in the Blues winger Willian in the recent times.
Losing both the players at the same time will definitely make the west London club significantly weak and Nicol has been vocal about the same. He said, “Chelsea, regardless of the amount of money that they would be offered for these two players, they would be absolutely bonkers to let them go in this window.”
He added on, “They won’t be able to replace either of them.
“So it seems inconceivable to me.
“Now, I did say (Cristiano) Ronaldo wouldn’t go to Juventus.
“But, from a Chelsea point of view, from a Chelsea fan’s point of view, this would be absolute madness.
“So I don’t see any way that these two go anywhere. Madness.”
The Chelsea fans, under the regime of their new manager Maurizio Sarri, has seen their talisman Hazard start from the bench in both the matches this season. On both occasions, the Belgian skipper came on to replace his Brazilian teammate Willian in the second half.
