According to Bristol Live, Manchester United are set to tie down their number one custodian David De Gea to a new deal. The contract will see an increase in his wage, which will see him earn £200,000-a- week at Old Trafford.
The Spaniard has been one of the finest goalkeepers in the recent times and big clubs like Real Madrid had been in continuous pursuit of his signature over the last few years. However, this summer, they have finally given up on the United shot-stopper and roped in Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea.
As per the Mirror, this news comes as a huge relief for the United faithful and the hierarchy is right in taking the decision of extending De Gea’s contract at the club. The Spanish custodian started in the first match of the season after a disappointing World Cup campaign which saw him concede a number of goals as his side was eliminated in the round of 16.
However, that did not seem to have an impact on his club career as he made a number of brilliant saves in the first match of the season against Leicester City, helping his team to a confident win. Jose Mourinho has been very happy with his main man under the crossbars and said,
“David is a Manchester United player, he will sign a new contract as soon as possible, he likes it here.
“We love him, we want him to stay. He wants to stay.

“I think it was a collective situation involving the player, the agent and Manchester United. The agent didn’t create a war to try to achieve his objectives.”
