Liverpool will play hosts to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday as they look to continue their winning record after gaining maximum points from their opening two clashes against West Ham United and Crystal Palace respectively. However, they would come across a solid Brighton side who caused a major upset last weekend when they defeated Manchester United with a 3-2 scoreline.
Chris Hughton’s team will need to keep things tight at the back as they don’t have a good record against their Merseyside opponents. The Reds have emerged victorious in each of their past five meetings with the Seagulls.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to continue with a fluid 4-3-3 formation and might name an unchanged side for this encounter. Joel Matip is a major doubt for the game but other than that, the Liverpool boss has no fresh injury concerns to cope with at the moment.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Brighton And Hove
Defence
Alisson Becker will undoubtedly claim his place in the Liverpool starting XI while Simon Mignolet awaits his chance on the bench. The Brazilian goalie kept a clean sheet in each of his first two outings for the Reds and would be confident about his chances of maintaining a shut-out once again at Anfield.
Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez would continue their central defensive partnership with both Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip set to be out of action for the time being. Andrew Robertson would operate as the left back while Trent Alexander-Arnold looks to put in an improved performance on the right side of the Reds backline.
Midfield
James Milner should lead the Liverpool side out as the captain alongside the former RB Leipzig star, Naby Keita, and Georginio Wijnaldum, who put on a tireless performance at Selhurst Park on Monday night. The Reds trio has been in a rich vein of form and would hope to continue their dominance at the heart of Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.
Jordan Henderson might come off the bench in the second half to provide some fresh legs for the home team.
Attack
Liverpool’s marvellous front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah is expected to start up top. Both Salah and Mane have already been at the heart of every goal scored by the Merseysiders so far this season. Hence, it is likely that one or both of them will register their names on the scoresheet this weekend.
Daniel Sturridge and Xherdan Shaqiri have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to make an impact during the final quarter of the game.
