Reports have emerged that Leeds United are showing interest in securing the talents of LOSC Lille midfielder Farès Bahlouli on a loan deal this summer.
Marcelo Bielsa has made a sensational start to his managerial career at Elland Road, winning all four of his games so far. The Whites have been in a rich vein of form of late and managed to secure maximum points from all three of their league matches. They have also played some beautiful, attractive football along the way which would please the Leeds supporters.
Squad Depth is Key!
However, the West Yorkshire outfit still needs to strengthen their squad if they are to pass the stern test of another long and gruelling campaign in the EFL Championship. The expectations are sky-rocketing with each day as Leeds are once again the centre of attention in the second tier of English football.
The Whites are currently preparing for a trip to Swansea City on Tuesday night. They could do with a few more players coming in to bolster Bielsa’s options so that the Argentine boss has enough squad depth to compete for the Championship title this season.
The French Under-21 international came through the youth ranks of Lyon before making a switch to AS Monaco in the summer of 2015. He had initially failed to make much of an impression at Stade Louis II before having a brief stint at Belgium while playing for Standard Liege on loan. However, things didn’t pan out for him at Monaco upon his return which is why they sold him to LOSC Lille at the start of last year.
The 22-year-old came to prominence last season when he put on some eye-catching performances at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Bahlouli had featured in 44 matches for the Ligue 1 side, scoring three goals while grabbing one assist in all competitions.
Fits Perfectly In Bielsa’s System
The Lyon-born attacking talent has a wealth of experience at the top level, but he is still untested in English football. He has a habit of making runs from midfield and boasts excellent pace and dribbling abilities which would suit Bielsa’s style of play at Elland Road. The Leeds boss favours a 3-3-1-3 formation over all others, and the fact that Bahlouli can play anywhere across the frontline makes him an ideal fit for the Whites.
At the mere age of 23, the ex-Monaco star is about to hit his peak years which is why Leeds should look to land him this month, even if it is on a temporary basis.
