According to the Metro, Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has revealed that he and his teammate and team talisman Eden Hazard have spoken with French star Nabil Fekir in order to convince him to join the Blues this summer. The player has been closely linked with a move to Liverpool and it seems the west London club have joined the race to land the Lyon midfield ace.
The 25-year-old was perilously close to joining the Merseyside club earlier this summer but Liverpool pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute during his medical. However, there have been rumours that the player is still expecting them to make a move for them and is open to a move to Anfield.
The interview from his national teammate Giroud, though, puts a new twist in the tale, which might see the Blues land the influential midfielder. It will definitely be a big boost for the Blues in pursuit of glory after their lacklustre performance in the last term.
In a recent interview with Foot Mercato, Giroud said, “I spoke to him when we were together in the French national team, when his move to Liverpool fell through.”
He added, “Then we discussed Chelsea, and I even think that Eden said a couple of words to him. We would obviously welcome him, he is a super player, but I don’t know if this is something that could happen as the window closes on Thursday.”

Fekir also made a point about leaving Lyon this summer in a recent interview. He said, “As you can see, I am in Lyon. I am very happy here,” Fekir added, “But the transfer window is still long and everything goes very quickly in football. We don’t know what will happen in the future but I am very happy at Lyon.”
