According to reports in the Daily Mail, Rangers‘ attacking midfielder Josh Windass has been subject to a £1.2m bid from Championship outfit Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys are looking to replace Martyn Waghorn who is likely to move to Derby County.
Windass has featured in all the games of this season so far, and the player is undoubtedly in plans of the new manager. Even last season, he was one of the better players at the Ibrox as he managed a tally of 18 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances.
The Gers have shown intent in the transfer market by bringing in a lot of players. However, the 24-year-old remains an integral part of the current squad.
With the transfer window close to coming to an end, it will be foolish on Rangers part to sell Windass as they will have very little time to look for replacements. Selling an instrumental player like him will also not go down well with the fans.
The Englishman will be tempted to play in his homeland, but with the Gers, he has a good chance of playing in the main draws of the Europa League. Gerrard has so far used him in ‘wide roles’ this season, and his versatility will also be a big miss for the gaffer. The offer of £1.2m should not tempt the Teddy Bears that much and the Glaswegian outfit needs to hold on to their man for just a few hours more as the transfer window is close to coming to an end in England.
A lot will be expected this season from the Gers as they look to stop Celtic‘s domination in Scottish Premiership. Selling an essential player like Windass will be a setback for Gerrard and Co.
