Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have not been given a smooth start to their task of retaining the Premier League title. With Manchester United winning against Leicester City, the pressure is on their rivals nice and early when they face Arsenal. While the transfer dealings at the Manchester club has been significantly less than those of their rivals (Manchester United the exception here), make no mistake about the fact that City are still the team to beat.
Injury And Team News
Danilo is the only player who is completely ruled out of this fixture with an ankle injury from the World Cup. While David Silva missed the Community Shield final against Chelsea, it is still a mystery whether the Spaniard would be available for the Arsenal match.
However, all said and done; Pep Guardiola virtually has a fully fit squad to pick his starting eleven from on Sunday.
Predicted 4-3-3 Manchester City Lineup Vs Arsenal
Defence
While Ederson has not started in any of City’s pre-season games, it is very likely that the Brazilian would start in goal for Pep Guardiola’s men.
Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy should start in the full-back positions just like last weekend against Chelsea. In central defence, Guardiola has a full contingent of defenders to choose from, but our bet is that he would go with the pairing of John Stones and Aymeric Laporte.
Midfield
The midfield is tougher to predict due to the Man City manager’s tendency to change around things frequently. Bernardo Silva is probably the only guaranteed starter in midfield as the Spanish manager has confirmed it. Other than that, we would expect Fernandinho to start in midfield along with the excellent Kevin De Bruyne.
Attack
Sergio Aguero will lead the line ahead of Gabriel Jesus. Our prediction is new signing Riyadh Mahrez, and Leroy Sane would start on the flanks.
