Manchester United will travel to the Amex Stadium to take on Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday after already claiming maximum points from their opening home match of the campaign last weekend. Jose Mourinho would hope that his players can replicate their performance against Leicester City to earn another victory in the second gameweek at the expense of the Seagulls.
However, it won’t be an easy task as Chris Hughton’s side would look to begin their home campaign with a win in front of their loyal supporters. We can expect an open, free-flowing game of football with both teams going all out to secure the three points. United are expected to line up in a 4-3-3 formation with Mourinho keeping the changes to a minimum.
4-3-3 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Brighton And Hove
Defence
David De Gea will definitely start ahead of Lee Grant for the Red Devils on Sunday. The Spanish goalie failed to keep a clean sheet against Leicester City last weekend so he would be desperate not to concede any goals away at the Amex Stadium.
The duo of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof should continue as the first-choice centre-halves under Mourinho. Luke Shaw would operate as the left-back after scoring the winner against the Foxes in his last league outing, while Matteo Darmian is expected to ply his trade on the right side of the United backline.
Mourinho has a few players missing in defence with Sergio Romero, Diogo Dalot, Marcos Rojo and Antonio Valencia all set to miss out on this Premier League encounter against Chris Hughton’s team.
Midfield
The Red Devils midfield would comprise of Andreas Pereira, sitting as the holding midfielder while Paul Pogba and Fred would look to create some opportunities for their attacking trio. The Special One would be without the services of Nemanja Matic so a lot will rest on the young shoulders of Pereira.
Pogba would be hoping to get in on the goalscoring act once again after he successfully converted a spot kick for United in the opening game of the campaign.
Attack
Mourinho’s front three needs to click if the Mancunians are to come away with maximum points this weekend. The deadly trio of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukuku, and Juan Mata will look to cause some headaches for the Brighton defenders. Lukaku missed a sitter when he was through on goal but couldn’t finish off a one-on-one chance as Kasper Schmeichel made a world-class save to deny him last time around.
The big Belgian target man needs to come back strong and put on a match-winning display against the Seagulls on Sunday.
