According to Give Me Sport, new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has already voiced his regrets over not signing his preferred players. The Italian gaffer replaces Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge and started off his Premier League campaign with a good win over Huddersfield Town away from home.
As per reports, Gonzalo Higuain was a wanted man at Chelsea since Sarri arrived but it was AC Milan who notched him up on loan. In return, the Rossoneri let Juventus have their man in the form of Leonardo Bonucci. The former Napoli gaffer had his eyes on the Argentine marksman due to the lack of quality up front at the west London club, as both the strikers, Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud did not have a satisfactory season with the Blues last term.
Morata, who was brought in for £60m last summer, notched up only 15 goals in 48 appearances throughout the last season. He started off well but soon lagged behind in terms of taking over the opposition defenders and scoring goals, making his position insecure at the Bridge.
However, due to the lack of players up front, Conte had to stick to him and as is in the case of Sarri. French star Giroud was brought in as a replacement but he also failed to prove himself as an upgrade over the Spaniard.

The new Chelsea boss was inclined towards having the experienced Higuain in his lineup for the new season but the Blues were not able to negotiate successfully with the Bianconeri and land him. This has reportedly left the gaffer disappointed and he admitted it yesterday in the post-match interview. He said, “Higuain? It’s a little regret but in the end everyone after the market have a few little regrets.”
