Manchester United are looking to bring Zinedine Zidane in place of Jose Mourinho if the Portuguese manager leaves the club in the near future. As per the reports in the Sun, the former Real Madrid gaffer, ie, Zidane, is a primary managerial target for the Red Devils after two seasons of disappointment under Mourinho.
The former Chelsea manager has failed to make an impact at the club since his appointment. His only triumph coming in the UEFA Europa League in the season prior to the last one has made the Manchester United faithful impatient and his recent comments have made the relationship even more sour between the club and the manager.
Mourinho lashed out at a recent interview during Manchester United’s pre-season tour in the USA and lamented that he has not been able to get the five players whom he had on his transfer wishlist this summer. This is sure to not go down well with the club management and it is expected that they are ready to replace him with Zidane in the near future.
The Portuguese manager is well-known for his outspoken nature and he has created quite a stir in the recent past by publicly criticising his team players, including the likes of the England left-back Luke Shaw and the Belgian attacker Romelu Lukaku. The report also states that a number of players are convinced that the Manchester United manager will part ways with the club and this might be the perfect opportunity for the Red Devils to land the French tactician.
