Manchester United are lining up one final move to persuade Barcelona to part ways with their prized defender Yerry Mina this summer. According to journalist Guillermo Arango, as reported by Comutricolor, the Red Devils are prepared to make a last-ditch offer to secure the services of the Colombian international with just days left to run in this summer transfer window.
In a recent interview with radio station RCN Radio, Arango went on to state that Jose Mourinho’s team are “simply finalizing the final offer for Yerry Mina to be a Manchester United player”, and that the Colombian is going to seal a move to the English top-flight, and that his new club “will be Manchester United, 90%”.
This recent development, if true, would lift the spirits of everyone associated with Manchester United as it could turn out to be a major coup for the club ahead of the new campaign. However, a big stumbling block could be Barca’s asking price, which according to Mundo Deportivo, could be in the region of £40m (€45m) for the Colombian defensive ace.
Mina had made 6 appearances for the Catalans last season. However, he made a great impact for the Colombian national side in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. His goal-scoring contributions helped his team seal a passage through to the knockout stages of the competition where they were eventually knocked out by England on penalties.
The 23-year-old struggled to feature regularly under Ernesto Valverde last season so a move away from Spain could help him reignite his career. The Reds of Manchester are in dire need of a new central defender and Mina fits the bill perfectly. He is young, fast and has a good aerial presence but Mourinho might not be the ideal manager to get the best out of him.
