As per latest reports, Manchester United are looking to break the bank to land Leicester City defender Harry Maguire. Signing a defender seems like the topmost priority for Jose Mourinho as they are being linked with quite a few of them. Latest reports suggest that Mourinho prefers a move for England international and they will be willing to break the world record(For a Defender) for signing Maguire.
The Englishman’s stock has skyrocketed after an impressive World Cup and most of the people will agree that he is too good to play at Leicester for long. Though Claude Pule is keen to hold on to his star defender having signed him just last year only from Hull City. The Foxes can make a huge profit on the defender if they decide to sell him in the next few days.
If United fail to land Maguire, they can go after some other players as well but it seems like United have placed the 25-year-old on top of their shopping list.
Maguire consistently showed in the World Cup that he is comfortable with playing the ball from the back. He might not have the pace to match certain forwards but he reads the game well and is often decisive in his challenges whether it is in the air or on the ground.

Maguire will definitely bring a lot of solidity at the back and given the fact that he has some good years of football left in him, he can be a real long-term solution for the Red Devils. The likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have often let their team down as they are quite error prone. The Portuguese manager realises that to stop Manchester City‘s juggernaut, he needs to find a viable partner for Eric Bailly.
