Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts could be set for a return to Celtic with his future at the Etihad Stadium uncertain as of this moment. According to the Scottish Sun, it is not clear whether the English prospect will stay at City to fight for a place in Pep Guardiola’s first-team or move elsewhere in search of more first-team opportunities during this summer transfer period.
It is believed that Roberts has entered the final year of his contract with the Mancunian club which could pave the way for his exit in this off-season. The 21-year-old had a successful two-and-a-half season loan spell at Parkhead recently where he won seven trophies and his outstanding displays saw him become a fan-favourite at the Glaswegian club.
In a recent interview earlier this year, he stated his desire to experience Premier League football in the upcoming campaign. However, with just days left in the current transfer window, the City wonderkid could be forced to weigh up his options ahead of the new season.
In a recent interview, Roberts shed some light on his situation and was quoted to have said, “Obviously I said at the end of the season that I spent a good two and a half years there and my time was brilliant.
“You never know in football.
“I’ve said before that I could end up back there at some point but right now I’m just looking at what’s best for me and best for my future.”
It is clear from the English wide man’s words that he has still not made up his mind about where his future lies beyond this summer. The same report also suggests that the Mancunian outfit is prepared to listen to offers for the 21-year-old in the coming days before the transfer window slams shut next week.

Roberts had a terrific record in the Scottish top-flight having made 51 league appearances for the Hoops, scoring 15 goals while grabbing 19 assists. Hence, a return to Celtic Park might be the best option for all parties if the Bhoys can cough up the money to land him this summer.
