Liverpool will travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace in the last match of this game week. Both teams started off their campaign with comfortable victories in their first game. However, the Eagles will be aware that going past Liverpool would be a big challenge. Though they have done well against the Merseyside club at home in the recent past, tomorrow’s match is a different kettle of fish altogether.
After coming second best in the Champions League final last season, Liverpool would be looking to achieve something substantial in terms of trophies this season. Many consider the Reds to be the strongest rivals to Manchester City in the league as they have recruited well in the summer transfer window and are looking that much closer to winning something significant.
Palace, on the other hand, would be delighted that they have managed to hold on to Wilfried Zaha who has become their talismanic man in the last season or so. He opened his goalscoring account for this season in the last game and would be looking to continue the excellent work. Zaha would, however, have to be efficient in this game as everyone would expect Liverpool to be the dominant side in terms of possession.
Team News
Liverpool
Joel Matip is likely to be back after from his injury of the preseason, although we expect him to be on the bench for this encounter. Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Rhian Brewster are going to be long-term absentees, and apart from them, Jurgen Klopp has a full squad to choose from here.
Crystal Palace
Connor Wickham is doubtful for this clash along with new signing Max Meyer who is still not match fit. Even if the German manages to pass the fitness test, he would be expected to start from the bench. Experienced defender Scott Dann is still out injured.
Predicted Lineups
Liverpool
Alisson Becker, Robertson, Van Dijk, Gomez, Alexander Arnold, Henderson, Milner, Keita, Mane, Salah, Firmino
Crystal Palace
Hennessey, Wan-Bissaka, Tomkins, Sakho, Van Aanholt, Milivojevic, McArthur, Schlupp, Townsend, Benteke, Zaha
Key Men
Liverpool
Mohamed Salah would again be expected to score goals, and he could be the main man to look out for in this encounter. Van Dijk has improved Liverpool’s defence by leaps and bounds since joining in January. He will be the dominant figure at the back and will be looking to keep a clean sheet for the second game in a row.
Crystal Palace
Wilfried Zaha started out as a winger, but now we often see him play in a more central role which allows him to affect the game more from such positions. Wayne Hennessey will have to be at his best in goal to keep a clean sheet against a rampant Liverpool side who will be expected to start on the front foot.
