As per the latest reports in the Mirror, Lyon are willing to sell their captain Nabil Fekir and we can see some late activity from Liverpool who he almost joined before the World Cup. The deal collapsed in the latter stage as the Reds were unhappy with his injury history and wanted to re-negotiate the deal after agreeing on a fee for him.
Lyon didn’t allow any such activity and the player went off to Russia as a Lyon player. After he came back, there were strong reports that the Reds will again go after their target, however, with just a few days to go, Liverpool seems done and dusted with their transfer activities.
Reports from French media suggest that Lyon will be willing to part ways with the World Cup winner if their valuation, which is in upwards of £60m, is met for the player.
The attacking midfielder had an impressive season last campaign for his club as he found the back of the net 23 times. He found it tough to break into France’s playing eleven in the World Cup but made appearances in all the games coming as a substitute.
Liverpool were looking at Fekir as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho who departed from the club in the January transfer window. If they don’t decide to go after the 25-year-old Frenchman, Klopp would hope that this decision doesn’t come back to bite him.
