Manchester United would travel to Lancashire to take on Burnley at the Turf Moor hoping to bounce back from their humiliating loss at home to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. The Red Devils were well-beaten by an in-form Spurs team even though they had a good first half. Jose Mourinho would be looking for a response from his squad, and anything other than the three points on Sunday will be a significant disappointment for the United supporters.
The recent history of this match makes for grim reading for the home team as they have not won in any of their last seven meetings with the Mancunian giants. Mourinho is likely to stick with his 4-3-3 formation and would bring in Victor Lindelof in place of Phil Jones.
4-3-3 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Burnley
Defence
David De Gea would surely start in goal for the Reds of Manchester while Lee Grant would find a place on the bench. The Spanish goalie is yet to keep a clean sheet this season and would need to put on a world-class performance against the Clarets if he wants his team to come away with maximum points from the Turf Moor.
Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling could feature as the centre-backs with Mourinho still trying to figure out his best defenders. They would be up against the duo of Jeff Hendrick and Chris Wood, so it won’t be an easy task for the United centre-backs to neutralise the threats of the Burnley attackers.
Luke Shaw has been Mourinho’s best player so far this season, and he would resume his left-back duties while Ashley Young might be used as a makeshift right-back.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic made his first league start last weekend but the Serbian needs to up his game if he wants to keep his place in Mourinho’s first-team. The duo of Fred and Paul Pogba would play alongside him and would be asked to make runs behind the Clarets backline.
Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini might come off the bench in the second half to provide some creativity and physicality for the Red Devils.
Attack
The trio of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, and Jesse Lingard is expected to make up the United front line. All three forwards are currently experiencing a goal-drought and are in dire need of finding the back of the net sooner rather than later.
The match against Burnley could serve as an ideal opportunity for them to get their confidence back by being productive in the final third. Both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford could be available on the bench and might come on in the second half if needed.
