According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by Football Fan Cast, Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has said that the Elland Road club had a concrete interest in Juventus striker Andrea Favilli before the player was loaned out to Genoa by the Bianconeri this summer.
The Whites have started their season in the best of fashions as they have already picked up three wins in the first four Championship matches this season. Under the new manager Marcelo Bielsa, the players have started to perform as a unit and have already shown that they mean business this season.
However, an able striker leading the charge for his side would have indeed decreased the worries for the Argentine manager, and Favilli could have been just the one. The 21-year-old showed his class in the three matches of the International Champions Cup where he scored two goals for Juventus and could have certainly been a valuable acquisition for the Whites.
Leeds United brought in Patrick Bamford this summer from Middlesbrough, but the English striker is yet to open his account in the Championship this season. The player starred in getting Boro to the Championship playoffs in the last term, and good things are expected of him as well as Leeds United already look like a strong contender to book a place in the Championship playoffs.
Favilli played 12 games for Ascoli in the last term but was good enough to catch the attention of the Italian champions with his five goals. Now a taste of top-flight football will help him get better exposure and develop him into a better player.
