As per reports coming from Turkish Football, Scottish Premiership giants Celtic and English Championship club Leeds United are vying against each other in the race to sign Manchester City defensive ace Jason Denayer. The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Turkey with Super Lig giants Galatasaray interested in securing his services but they might not be able to crack a deal with Manchester City to bag the Belgian youngster.
The Super Lig Champions were in possession of the player in the last term and he helped them win the title to a great extent. However, the player had also spent one season with Celtic and is well aware of the ways of the club, which can be an ideal destination for him this summer.
Denayer was a member of Pep Guardiola’s pre-season squad and also featured in the International Champions Cup. However, one should not expect him to feature for the Cityzens during the regular season and that is where Celtic and Leeds should feel interested.
Though the player has two more years left in his contract with the reigning Premier League champions, it can be expected that he will once again be sent on loan just like the previous seasons and both Leeds and Celtic should take the opportunity to get him into their sides for the next term.
However, Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim is known to be very fond of the player’s qualities and might be willing to bring him back to the Türk Telekom Stadium this summer. He will be facing competition from the English and Scottish sides for sure. The 23-year-old is known to be a central figure in the middle of the pitch and it is to be seen where he ends up this summer.
