According to Star, as cited by ESPN, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is willing to sell Anthony Martial. He has already spoken to the executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward about this as he thinks the Frenchman is not good enough to be a part of his squad.
The 22-year-old winger has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford in the last season. In his first season in the Premier League, the player was a regular for the Manchester club under the tutelage of the then manager Louis Van Gaal, who brought him in from Monaco. He played as a striker and showed his class to announce his arrival in style until Mourinho arrived at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese manager brought in Romelu Lukaku from Everton to lead his line, which saw Martial’s role changed to that of a winger. However, he has been unable to impress the new manager in his new role and Mourinho now wants to cash in on the player to get funds which he can use in the next transfer window.
As per the report, Woodward has not approved of the plan as he does not want to let go of the player for anything other than a premium price. This has reportedly started a clash between the two, ie, Woodward and Mourinho over Martial, who is now willing to stay back at the club.
The Frenchman is aware of the situation and has been worried about his future at the club, as his agent had earlier mentioned that Martial is willing to part ways with the 13 time Premier League champions. However, the recent u-turn adds a very interesting insight to the whole transfer saga involving the 22-year-old winger.
