Manchester United‘s miseries continue to pile on as the Red Devils succumbed to another defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in their third match of the current Premier League campaign. After the first half ended at 0-0, the Spurs players started putting pressure on the fragile looking Manchester United defence, and this paid enormous dividend as Harry Kane and Lucas Moura fired the North London club to a famous victory.
Kane broke the deadlock in the 50th minute via a perfectly timed header from a Kieran Trippier corner to find the top corner beyond the reach of David De Gea. Lucas Moura struck in the 52nd and 84th minute to put the match beyond Jose Mourinho’s men.
This is how the Manchester United players were rated from their disheartening defeat Vs Tottenham Hotspur.
David de Gea 6
The defence let him down completely. Pulled off a brilliant save to deny Dele Alli.
Antonio Valencia 5
Not the return the captain would have expected. Got forward regularly but to no avail.
Chris Smalling 5
Disappointing show apart from a good tackle on Dele Alli. Lucas Moura took him apart to score the final goal of the evening.
Ander Herrera 4
Decent first half but a disappointing second-half performance from the Spaniard who played out of position.
Phil Jones 4
Equally disappointing as he looked clueless against the opposition attackers.
Luke Shaw 6
Slipped into more of an offensive mode and did well going forward.
Nemanja Matic 5
Looked good in the first 45 minutes but was overpowered in the second half.
Fred 5
Looked to gallop forward on occasions but the end product was not there.
Paul Pogba 5
Was off colour once again. Could not inspire his team to make a comeback.
Jesse Lingard 6
Looked to make darting runs but lacked the communication with his teammates, especially Lukaku.
Romelu Lukaku 4
Nowhere near the kind of form expected of him. Missed an open net in the early hours of the match.
Substitutes
Alexis Sanchez 5
Could not make any significant difference since coming on.
Victor Lindelof 4
Disappointing night for the player.
Marouane Fellaini 5
Simply not good enough on the day
