Leicester City will entertain the Premier League leaders Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon after winning three of their last four fixtures in all competitions. A much-changed Leicester side recently brushed off Fleetwood Town in the second round of the League Cup with a 4-0 scoreline.
Claude Puel’s men will now come up against a rampant Liverpool side who are yet to concede a goal this season. Getting a victory against Jurgen Klopp’s team won’t be an easy job, but the Foxes need to be at their best if they want to satisfy their home supporters and come away with a result from this clash.
Puel might opt for a 4-4-1-1 formation, and this match could see the return of a number of their first-team players who were rested in midweek. However, the Foxes boss won’t be able to call upon the services of Jamie Vardy who is suspended for this encounter.
4-4-1-1 Leicester City Predicted Lineup To Face Liverpool
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel is expected to return to the Foxes’ first-team after being rested in midweek when Danny Ward was able to start in goal and earn a clean sheet against Fleetwood Town at the King Power Stadium. Both Wes Morgan and Harry Maguire are likely to continue their centre-back partnership at the heart of Puel’s backline. Daniel Amartey will play as the right-back, and Ben Chilwell should come back and resume his duties on the left side of the defence.
The Foxes have conceded just two goals in their first four matches in all domestic competitions, but it will be a tough ask for their defenders to cope with the threats of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane this weekend.
Midfield
Wilfred Ndidi and Nampalys Mendy might be deployed at the centre of the park. The Leicester duo would operate as the holding midfielders while Demarai Gray should look to use his pace down the left flank. Ricardo Pereira would start on the right-hand side of the midfield.
None of the above four midfielders started in midweek versus the Cod Army so they should be well rested for this massive Premier League clash against Liverpool.
Attack
Jamie Vardy is suspended for this encounter so Kelechi Iheanacho would spearhead Puel’s attack up top. James Maddison might play just on the shoulders of the Nigerian forward while assuming the number 10 role.
Iheanacho found the back of the net against Fleetwood Town which should give him enough confidence ahead of this weekend’s crucial league match against the Reds.
