Leicester City will play hosts to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the King Power Stadium after failing to come away with any points from their clash against Manchester United last week. It would be all about righting the wrongs for Puel’s men against the Premier League new boys on Saturday. However, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team are well-drilled and has already shown a lot of promise in their opening game against Everton.
Claude Puel could stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation for this match with Kelechi Iheanacho spearheading his attack up top. The recent history of this fixture makes for grim reading for the Foxes as they have won just once in their past five meetings with their West Midlands opponents.
4-2-3-1 Leicester City Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel would start as the goalkeeper for the Foxes after shipping in two goals at Old Trafford in the opening game of the season. The Danish shot-stopper had an outstanding 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign and would hope to continue his excellent form for his club as well.
The centre-back pairing of Harry Maguire and Wes Morgan will line up at the heart of Leicester’s defence while Ben Chilwell will start at left-back. Daniel Amartey would look to use his pace on the right side of the backline.
The Foxes back four needs to defend much better if they are to stop Wolves from finding the back of the net on Saturday. Puel’s players are likely to come up against an attacking trio of Helder Costa, Raul Jiminez, and Diogo Jota, so it would be a difficult task to keep them quiet.
Midfield
The midfield duo of Wilfried Ndidi and Adrien Silva could be deployed at the centre of the park as the defensive midfielders. The trio of Demarai Gray, Ricardo Pereira, and new signing, James Maddison will play just ahead of them in the Wolves half, looking to create some chances for Kelechi Iheanacho.
Maddison joined the Foxes from Norwich City where he had a prolific goal-scoring record. He would be expected to get his name on the scoresheet for his new club sooner rather than later.
Attack
Kelechi Iheanacho will lead the line for the home side up top. While Vardy could be in contention to start this match as Puel confirmed, we think that Iheanacho would get one final chance to start a game before Vardy takes over the starting position.
The Nigerian has struggled to find consistency in front of goal so far in his Leicester career so it would be a big season for him at the top tier of English football.
