Romanian prodigy Catalin Carjan is set to sign for Arsenal in December when he turns 16. The midfielder is one of the upcoming stars and he currently plies his trade in his homeland for Viitorul Domnesti. The midfielder himself recently confirmed the news about his deal with the London outfit.
He was quoted as saying,”It’s something else. It’s a big difference I cannot wait to go there to sign [for Arsenal] and it’s going to be much better. I will sign when I’m 16. They’ve been watching me for more matches and that was it – after that they sent me the tickets to go to them. They told me that I was a good player and that they wanted [me] to go to the big team in two years.’’
Along with the senior team, Unai Emery is also keen on improving Arsenal’s youth setup as he has also sealed the deal for Barcelona‘s 16-year-old fullback Joel Lopez.
It is certainly refreshing to see Emery’s approach as he is keen on promoting the youth talent. Even in the first game of the season, the Spanish manager surprised everyone by starting with 19-year-old Matteo Guendozi against Manchester City. Though the move wasn’t appreciated by many, however, the experience will help the youngster to improve a lot.
Arsenal have a rich history of snapping up talented players when they are young and we have seen quite a few of them flourish at the top level. A signing like Carjan won’t make much noise in the press and the fans would want to see signings which will improve the senior team straightaway but thinking of the future and keeping the academy full with talent is the right way to go. Hopefully, the Romanian wonderkid will go on to establish himself at the Emirates in the future.
