According to the Metro, Alexis Sanchez has been left out of the Manchester United squad ahead of their match against Brighton and Hove Albion. The Chilean reportedly failed to impress in the opening Premier League match against Leicester City and his exclusion could be an aftermath to that.
The player has been one of the better performers for Jose Mourinho’s side in the pre-season tournament but he seemed to have lost his touch as the Premier League started last weekend. Manchester United went onto win their first match against the Foxes, courtesy of goals from Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw. However, Sanchez looked off-colour in his first outing of the season.
Jesse Lingard and Ander Herrera have travelled with the side for the Brighton match. Both the players missed United’s opening clash against the Foxes while Sanchez, despite being on the field for 90 minutes, was left out of the side for the second match.
In his absence, the onus will be on either of Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial to carry out the attack alongside Romelu Lukaku. The forwards were not able to score any goal in the first match of the campaign and Mourinho would want a better display from them in the next one.
A last minute injury concern can’t be ruled out as the cause for Sanchez’s absence from the squad. However, the player, as reported by Manchester Evening News, had trained all week with the team at Carrington.

After failing to secure any silverware in the last term, Jose Mourinho would be determined to get his hands on at least one major trophy this season. It seems he is not willing to take any chances and thus the decision to keep Sanchez out of the side has come into being.
