According to the Metro, Chelsea are in contention to miss out on their influential midfielder Cesc Fabregas for the next clash against Arsenal in the Premier League due to an unfortunate injury. The Blues won their opening fixture against Huddersfield Town in convincing fashion, by a margin of 3-0.
Chelsea will be taking on their rivals from North London next weekend in which is going to be the first real challenge for their new manager Maurizio Sarri, who has taken charge this summer. The Italian gaffer showed his masterclass in his very first outing with the Blues as he bagged all three points with a dominant performance over the Terriers.
Fabregas has been one of the players who had settled in a midfield role in the last season under Antonio Conte. This season, however, Sarri has brought in the likes of Jorginho from his former team Napoli to strengthen the midfield. He has also acquired the services of the Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic, who appeared to Stamford Bridge on loan from Real Madrid.
This has already made the Spaniard’s place in the starting lineup at the west London club doubtful as Sarri might go in with the midfield trio of N’golo Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic against Arsenal. He opted for Ross Barkley, Jorginho and Kante as his options in the last match against the Terriers and so the loss of Fabregas will not be a big one for the Italian boss.

However, given his experience in the top flight and his ability to play in a variety of roles, the Chelsea manager will always want to have him at his disposal in the long run as he will be willing to use him in the Cup competitions to give ample breathers to his top three midfielders.
