Chelsea are set to go after Brazilian winger Bernard who is available on a free transfer after his contract with Ukranian giants Shakhtar Donetsk expired in June. The fact that he is a free agent has attracted a lot of clubs towards him and AC Milan are set to rival Chelsea for his signature.
Maurizio Sarri is likely to be relatively active in the last few days of the transfer window as the Blues have only acquired Jorginho and Rob Green. Apart from acquiring players, Sarri also needs to keep hold of his star players as they are constantly being linked with a move away.
In England, West Ham United have also shown an interest for Bernard who has 14 senior team appearances for Brazil. It’s being reported that the player wants a five-year deal where he will earn £2.6m yearly and that has put Italian giants AC Milan off. Maybe the Blues can offer him a deal much closer to his demands.
The 25-year-old helped Shakhtar Donetsk to secure 3 league titles and 6 domestic cups in his 5-year spell at the club. He made 157 appearances for them and ended up with a healthy tally of 28 goals and 35 assists. The Blues are finding it hard to keep hold of Willian and that could be one of the reasons why they are after a winger in the transfer market.

The Brazilian has never played in top 5 leagues of the World so it will be interesting to see how he will cope up to the challenges in the Premier League. Like all Brazilian, he has a flair to his game but he could be out of depth in the English top flight as he is physically on the lighter side. Nevertheless, for free, this will turn out to be a low-risk signing for the Italian manager.
