Arsenal are plotting a move for Besiktas centre-back Domagoj Vida this summer. According to the Sun, the Gunners are hoping to secure the services of the Croatian international during this summer transfer period.
The 29-year-old defensive ace is currently valued in the region of £25m but a deal will most likely go through only if the North London giants manage to offload Shkodran Mustafi or Danny Welbeck in the coming days.
It is believed that the new Arsenal manager Unai Emery is looking to strengthen his defence before the transfer window slams shut in a few days time and has identified Vida as an ideal candidate to protect his defence next season.
Emery has six defenders to call upon, which include the likes of the injured Laurent Koscielny, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Mustafi, Callum Chambers, Rob Holding and Konstantinos Mavropanos, going into the new season.
The Besiktas centre-half had a marvelous 2018 FIFA World Cup after putting in a number of valiant displays for his country on their way to the final of the competition. However, the Croatian national side fell on the final hurdle as they lost 4-2 versus France but were able to win over a lot of hearts with their performance and effort.
Vida is also quite experienced at the top level having made 160 appearances for Dynamo Kiev and 18 appearances for Besiktas which makes him a perfect fit for Emery’s Arsenal.
