According to reports in L’Équipe, Huddersfield Town are on their way to make a new signing this summer right before the closure of the transfer window in the form of Belgian striker Issac Mbenza. Get French Football News revealed the news on Twitter as David Wagner is looking to strengthen his options for the next season after finishing in the 16th position in the Premier League table.
The report says that the English club has already submitted a bid of €15m for the player. Also, though Montpellier are in no urgent need of selling their player, they might take the offer to let Mbenza leave. The 22-year-old young striker has a contract till 2020 with his current club and had scored eight goals last season to attract Wagner’s attention.
The departure of Tom Ince has made Huddersfield look for options to sharpen their attacking edge and it seems they have an answer in Mbenza. The Belgian attacker is well known in Ligue 1 for his pace, and prowess and the German gaffer will be looking to make good use of it in the next season.
As per L’equipe, the deal between the two parties will hopefully be done within the next few hours. The inclusion of a player like Mbenza will provide a lot of stability to the front line for the Terriers as they will look to improve their game and finish their second consecutive season in the top flight on a comfortable note.
