According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United‘s new recruit, Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot has hinted towards his debut for the Red Devils this season. The player has been out of the side with an injury he picked up in the last season while playing for his former team Porto.
The player was one of the few players to be brought into the United team this summer and is expected to appear as a cover for the veteran right back Antonio Valencia. The Ecuadorian player missed United’s last match against Brighton and Hove Albion due to a minor injury but is available for selection for their next game against Tottenham Hotspur.
Mourinho deployed Ashley Young in the place of Valencia but the move did not work out for the Portuguese manager. However, now with Dalot recovering from his injury, there might be a chance that the player will be deployed in his familiar position when Valencia is not available.
The player has himself been excited about his debut for the Red Devils and has posted a message on his Twitter account, indicating that he is on his way to return to action very soon. Mourinho, in his statement, confirmed that the player’s surgery has been done and he will miss the start of the season. He said, “Dalot is injured, we knew he was injured, a small injury, a small surgery.”
“He’s recovering really well, I think he can start training when we come back to England. ‘He won’t be ready for the start of season but ready I think for September.”
