According to the Metro, Manchester United have inched closer in their pursuit of Colombian defender Yerry Mina from Barcelona. It is being reported that they have already agreed personal terms with the player, however, they are still in negotiations with the Catalan club for the transfer fee.
Jose Mourinho has been worried about his defensive lapses from the last season and is looking to add defenders to his side, his preferred choice being Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur. However, the Portuguese manager had to turn his attention towards Mina due to the huge price tag of £75m slapped on the defender by the North London club.
As per the reports, the Red Devils have agreed on a five year deal with the player and he is set to join them in a few days time. The player has been one of the best performers for his side in the World Cup and helped Colombia to qualify for the Round of 16, where they were eventually beaten by the Semi-finalists England.
The 23-year-old joined Barcelona last January and was expected to make a mark at Camp Nou. However, it did turn out to be a disastrous move for the player as he had to spend most of his time on the bench. Now that he is set to join the Red Devils, it might see Mina finally ply his trade on a regular basis at club level at Old Trafford.
