According to the Daily Star, Arsenal manager Unai Emery is set to keep his faith in veteran goalkeeper Petr Cech for the next mega clash against Chelsea. The former Chelsea custodian looked clueless on quite a few occasions in the last match against the defending champions Manchester City and conceded two goals to see his team go down against the Cityzens.
However, Cech’s lacklustre performance in the first match does not seem to have bothered the Spanish tactician and he is looking to continue with the 37-year-old former Czech Republic international in the goal. Though Emery brought in Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, it seems that the German international has not been able to convince the Arsenal manager to hand him a starting spot.
The veteran shot-stopper looked out of sorts in the first match against Manchester City and visibly struggled to fit into the new setup implemented by the new manager. He almost scored a comical own goal as well, which could have been disastrous for the Gunners if that would have gone in.
As per Starsport, Leno was brought in for £22.5m this summer and it was expected that Cech will go down the pecking order under Emery when the new season starts. But the former Paris Saint Germain manager has put his faith in the highly experienced keeper and has also handed him the captain’s armband in absence of Lorent Koscielny.

Cech did not have a good outing in the last term as well and didn’t look comfortable under the posts for, making a number of mistakes which was unexpected from a player of his stature. However, it is to be seen whether Emery’s plan to put faith in him backfires or not.
