Reports in French media suggest that Chelsea can make a late move for Lyon’s attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir. The 25-year-old was close to joining Liverpool, however, the deal fell down in the last moments as Liverpool were concerned with his medical record. With just a few days remaining in the English transfer window, we can expect some flurry of activities, especially from the Blues.
It’s believed that lack of Champions League football can be the biggest drawback for the Frenchman as Lyon are set to play in Europe’s elite competition. Chelsea so far have done well to ward off interest for their attacking players like Eden Hazard and Willian and if they manage to hold on to them, the possibility of them going for Fekir will reduce.
However, the World Cup winner can add a lot of creative and attacking threat at Stamford Bridge. The captain led Lyon from the front as he managed 23 goals in all competitions and helped them secure a third-place finish.
The Blues have had a silent transfer window as their only major signing has been Jorginho. They are fighting all means to keep hold of their key players, however, someone like Fekir coming in will definitely boost the squad and lift the spirit of the supporters. Fekir was also part of the France squad which won the World Cup, though he found it tough to break into the first team as he made appearances in all the games coming from the bench.

The 25-year-old has everything to his game which an attacking midfielder needs and he can be a perfect fit for Maurizio Sarri’s extravagant brand of football. However, with so little time remaining in the transfer window, it seems unlikely that the Pensioners will be able to get their man.
