A report by The Daily Mail has recently claimed that Atletico Madrid are hoping to secure the signature of Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso before the Spanish transfer window comes to a halt at the end of this month. A separate recent report is indicating that the Pensioners could consider parting ways with their prized asset this summer if Atletico Madrid makes an offer exceeding their £54m valuation for the player.
The West London outfit have won both their Premier League matches so far this season against Huddersfield Town and Arsenal respectively and Alonso has played an instrumental part at both ends of the pitch. Maurizio Sarri’s team has been heavily reliant on the 27-year-old’s contribution down the left flank, so it was a surprise to see Chelsea open to selling Alonso.
Chelsea Simply CANNOT Lose A Player Of Alonso’s Calibre!
The Blues of London cannot lose a player of Alonso’s calibre at any costs if they are serious about challenging for top honours once again in this campaign. The Spanish wing-back has already chipped in with one goal and two assists in his first three matches for Chelsea this season.
It seems like he is loving life at Stamford Bridge under the tutelage of Sarri. The Italian head coach has also managed to get the best out of the 27-year-old defender so staying at the West London club could be a wise move for all parties.
Sarri’s Chelsea could be considered as one of the dark horses to win the Premier League title this season but their failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League could turn Alonso’s head if one of the European giants come calling for his signature.
All Resources Must Go Into Convincing The 27 Y/O To Stay
Now it is up to Sarri and the rest of the club’s management team to convince the Spanish talent to stay and commit his long-term future at Stamford Bridge. At 27, Alonso is currently at his peak so it would be foolish to lose him when he is in the prime of his career.
The Madrid-born sensation has made 84 appearances for the West London heavyweights so far, scoring 15 goals while grabbing nine assists in all competitions. His goal-scoring record for Chelsea is second to none while Alonso also tracks back and performs his defensive duties well. Hence, it won’t be too far-fetched to consider him as one of the best two-way players in European football.
Losing the Spaniard’s services should not be an option for the Pensioners, and they should do everything in their power to keep hold of Alonso for the time being.
