Celtic are leading the chase to secure the services of West Bromwich Albion centre-back Craig Dawson this summer. According to the United Kingdom bookmakers, Skybet, as reported by HITC Sport, the Hoops have emerged as the most likely candidate to snap up the Baggies defender before the end of this summer transfer window.
The Glaswegian giants were linked with a move for the West Brom defensive ace earlier this summer but were behind the likes of Burnley and West Ham United in the chase for his signature. However, there has been a major shift in the latest odds by the bookies as Celtic have currently been installed as the favourites to land the English talent before the end of this month and have been priced at 5/1 ahead of the Clarets and the Hammers, who are both listed at 10/1 and 5/2 respectively.
Dawson did not play any part in the opening match of this EFL Championship season when the Baggies took on Bolton Wanderers last Saturday. The West Midlands outfit ended up losing the contest 2-1 without the English defender’s services on the day. The bookies have tipped him to leave the Hawthorns before the transfer window slams shut and have priced it at 5/6.
The fact that both Burnley and West Ham have already bolstered their defence this summer could leave Celtic with an open path to land the Baggies centre-half this month. Rodgers also has the added bonus of signing players until the end of this month unlike the English teams, who have until Thursday to recruit players.

It has also been revealed that West Brom are demanding a fee in the region of £20m for their prized asset which could be a major stumbling block for the Hoops. Only time will tell whether Rodgers can lure the player to make a switch to Parkhead this summer.
