Manchester United are going to appoint their first director of football in their close to 140 years of existence. If reports are to be believed then Ed Woodward is planning to appoint who will oversee the football part of Manchester United club. Ever since Alex Ferguson left, the club has gone through a lot of changes off the pitch in terms of training facilities, scouting system and academy recruitment.
Woodward is currently serving as the Cheif Executive of Manchester United. Now the term Manchester United doesn’t only mean the football club over here but Manchester United ‘the brand’. Woodward has often faced criticism on how he is not doing things the ‘United way’ ever since he took over the club operations in 2013. The club has failed to find success on the field but one cannot say that it has taken a toll on them off it, as United still happens to be on of the biggest sports club in the world.
However, to ease the burden, appointing a director of football is a good move as this can now allow Woodward to concentrate on other things at the club. He has often been put under custody for his transfer approach and various signings. Under him, big moves like Angel Di Maria, Victor Valdes, Morgan Schneiderlin, Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic have already come and gone and everyone believes that the current United management team lacks a sense of vision when it comes to transfer dealings.

A good section of fans has been crying out for such appointment as they want to have a dedicated man to work and do things the ‘United Way’. However, it won’t be easy to satisfy the fans and the new man will have to deliver the results soon as United are currently going through a slump in terms of success on the pitch.
