Everton would play hosts to Huddersfield Town at Goodison Park on Saturday hoping to continue their good form in the league. The Toffees are still unbeaten across all competitions so far and has already put on some solid performances at home which include victories against Southampton and Rotherham. They would now clash heads with David Wagner’s Terriers, who are desperately searching for their first win of the season.
Marco Silva is expected to stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and will bring most of his first-team players back for this contest. However, the Merseyside outfit would be without the services of Michael Keane who is currently sidelined due to injury.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Huddersfield Town
Defence
Jordan Pickford will return to Marco Silva’s first-team after Maarten Stekelenburg featured in midweek but was unable to keep a clean sheet in the League Cup second round home clash against Rotherham. The central defensive pair of Mason Holgate and Kurt Zouma should continue their partnership at the middle of the Toffees backline while Seamus Coleman returns to take his spot at right-back and Leighton Baines starts on the other side as the left-back.
Digne was able to get an opportunity against Rotherham, but he is expected to start on the bench this weekend. The Everton defenders have conceded six goals in their previous four matches across all competitions which would be a cause for concern ahead of this weekend’s clash against the Terriers. Underestimating David Wagner’s team could cost them the match if the Toffees get complacent on Saturday.
Midfield
Idrissa Gueye will slot in as a holding midfielder alongside Tom Davies. It is expected that the trio of Bernard, Gylfi Sigurðsson and Theo Walcott would operate ahead of them in the opposition half.
Sigurðsson got his name on the scoresheet in midweek while Walcott has also been amongst the goals after scoring two in his last two league outings. Hence, we can expect one of them to make a significant difference in this upcoming contest this weekend.
Attack
Cenk Tosun was rested in midweek and should return to Silva’s starting XI. However, the Turkish striker is yet to get off the mark this season and has struggled in front of goal so far. He needs to get his confidence back up, and a goal on Saturday could do him a world of good.
Both Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored a brace against Rotherham, and Oumar Niasse should be available on the bench for the Toffees.
