According to Kicker, as cited by Arsenal Station, Arsenal can be on the move to bring German centre-back Jerome Boateng to Emirates this summer. It is reported that Unai Emery’s men are set to gazump rivals Manchester United to secure the signature of the prized player.
The Bayern Munich defender, who is being touted to be cashed in by the Bundesliga giants, is being priced at £45m. Arsenal do have some rebuilding to do, especially in their backline after the pathetic performance of the last season and getting an experienced campaigner like the 29-year-old can take them places the next term.
However, the player has been closely linked with Manchester United as well and Arsenal have a fight on their hands to land Boateng at Emirates. As per the report, the Gunners have also been linked with the Croatian ace Domagoj Vida as well but he might not be the right fit for Emery’s plans for the next season.
Boateng has been one of the mainstays in the German and Bayern Munich defence over the years but has fallen down the pecking order in the recent times. He had a disastrous World Cup campaign with the former champions Germany in Russia earlier this year, where he saw his team crashing out of the tournament in the group stages.

At Bayern Munich as well, the player is no more inevitable for their success and might be offloaded this summer. With both Manchester United and Arsenal keen on him, it will be interesting to see who will have the last smile in the race to add the 29-year-old former Manchester City defender to their lineup.
