Former Arsenal player Robert Pires has urged Liverpool to rekindle their interest and secure the services of Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir this summer. According to the Metro, Jurgen Klopp’s side has been encouraged to seal a move for the Ligue 1 talent before the transfer window slams shut next week.
It was reported that the French international was close to joining the Merseyside club after undergoing a medical earlier this summer but the move, to the surprise of many, collapsed at the last minute when the Reds had injury concerns over Fekir’s knee and asked the French club to reduce the fee.
The Merseyside club had a very fruitful transfer window so far after bringing in the likes of Naby Keita, Fabinho, Alisson Becker and Xherdan Shaqiri. Klopp had recently hinted that the Reds’ transfer business for this window could be over with the deadline day fast approaching.
However, Arsenal and France great Robert Pires recently shared his thoughts on the potential transfer and was quoted to have said,
‘Fekir would be a good fit for the Premier League and a great signing for Liverpool,’
‘I don’t know why the deal broke down at the medical earlier this summer, but Fekir is a great player and would be a good signing for Liverpool.’
Fekir had a terrific 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign with the French national team as they won the biggest prize in international football when France beat Croatia in the final of the competition last month to become the new world champions.
