As per the reports from Arsenalfever.com, Arsenal are set to part ways with their influential defensive ace Laurent Koscielny. The player has hinted towards an exit after he runs down his current contract with the club, not willing to accept an extension.
The Frenchman has a contract with the North London club, which runs down to the year 2020. Koscielny is currently 33 and at the time of his contract’s expiry with Arsenal, he will be 35, which might not be a good age to continue his struggle to play at the top level. Besides, injury scares have hindered his progress as a player and it might see him hang up his boots at the end of the 2020/21 season.
The Gunners have already brought in a number of new players, including Sokratis Papastathoupoulos, who signed with them this summer. This might be an indication for the former Arsenal captain to get ready for departure, which will be the perfect decision for all the parties involved.
In an interview given to a French newspaper, Koscielny said that he is aiming for a move out of the club after 2020. However, he is unsure about the decision and his next destination. He said,”I’m under contract until June 2020. Afterwards? I’m thinking of moving on, but I do not know where”.

This might come as a well-judged decision for the Gunners ace and Koscienly will be on his way out of the Emirates. However, it will be interesting to see whether they will be able to handle the adverse situations as the 33-year-old Frenchman used to do. The new defenders at the Emirates will have to fight a lot harder to achieve the level of Koscielny in the next few seasons.
