Crystal Palace wide man Wilfried Zaha is keen on making a switch to Chelsea this summer. According to the Mirror, the Eagles star is hoping to depart Selhurst Park before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday.
It is understood that the West London side are currently in pole position to land the Ivory Coast international after Tottenham Hotspur pulled out of the race to snap him up during this summer transfer period. Palace are demanding a fee in the region of £75m which has given the Pensioners a clear run to seal a move for the 25-year-old’s services.
The Ivory Coast winger, who penned a £100,000-a-week new contract at Selhurst Park last year, has rejected the Eagles’ offer of a new deal which would have boosted his weekly wages by another £25,000.
The new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is unsure about the future of Willian and could see Zaha as an ideal replacement if the Brazilian playmaker ends up quitting Stamford Bridge in the coming days.
The talented speedster has been outstanding for the Eagles during the course of last season when he put in a number of match-winning displays which helped his side avoid relegation. Zaha had scored 9 goals and created 5 assists in 29 appearances for Roy Hodgson’s side in the English top-flight.
It is understood that if the Pensioners are willing to go near the whopping £75m valuation then the Eagles will do a deal this summer with Zaha keen on taking the next step in his career.
At West London, the 25-year-old will be in involved in Europe which should be enough to lure him to Stamford Bridge. Let’s see whether Chelsea can convince Palace to part ways with their prized asset before the transfer deadline on Thursday.
