Marcelo Bielsa has a lot on his plate this summer as he is now charged with the responsibility of taking Leeds United, who seem to be stagnant in the Championship, back to fighting for honours at the highest stage in England. The manager is evidently unhappy with the squad at his disposal and is looking to improve in certain areas, that could be key in the next season.
The Argentine seems desperate to add a goal scorer to his side and has been linked with the likes of Matej Vydra, Abel Hernandez and Florian Jozefzoon this summer. However, he has failed in his attempt to land any of those stars and is still in the market for a striker. There are other fringe names who can be worth giving a shot and one such player Bielsa should opt for is struggling West Ham star, Jordan Hugill.
Born and brought up in Middlesbrough, the 26-year old played for 10 different English clubs in various divisions in the country, before moving to the Premier League for the first time with the Hammers in January. He was signed by David Moyes on the deadline day for £10m but got just 22 minutes of league action all season.
However, he scored eight goals in the Championship in the first half of the campaign for Preston and a move back to the second tier could give Hugill a chance to regain some form.
Strong in the air and full of energy, the 26-year old striker loves to hurry defenders up and is a poacher in the final third. He is hard to beat in aerial duals but can also be a threat with the ball at his feet if he is given space in and around the box. He will only improve as a player under a manager like Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham but needs regular game time to continue his progress. This is where Leeds should step in.
Bielsa is as good a coach for a player as the Chilean in London and Hugill’s experience of 100 Championship games make him a first-team option next season. He is not the best player around but is one who will fight right until the end and could be a genuine match winner at Elland Road.

Hugill has recently expressed that he is happy to fight for his place at West Ham but Leeds United and Bielsa are reportedly interested in his signature. So they should make their move quickly and snap up a player who can solve their attacking issues at the club.
