After a title-winning campaign in the Championship, Wolves have now joined the Premier League as one of the strongest outfits to be promoted in recent times. Nuno Espirito Santo has a gifted squad, that can compete with the best, even in the top flight but the manager is desperate to add some quality and depth to his side, to make sure that they can challenge on all fronts.
This has seen them close in on a host of exciting names, that can make a difference at the Molineux and one player now linked with a move to the club is Colombian international Yerry Mina.
Born and brought up in Colombia, Mina started his senior career in his home country, before moving to Brazil to make a name for himself. He first moved to Europe with Barcelona just this January, as he signed a long-term deal with the Catalan giants, hoping to make an impact on the first team. However, he made just four league starts, most of them coming after they lifted the La Liga title, and Mina only remained an outsider.
He did put in some superb performances for the Colombian national side in the World Cup recently, also picking up a couple of goals but Barcelona have signed Clement Lenglet this summer, pushing Mina further down the pecking order. So it does not come as a surprise that the 23-year old is already in search of regular game time and has been linked with the likes of Everton and Lyon recently.
However, reports now suggest that Wolves have joined the race to sign the defender this summer. Sky Sports claims that Santo is convinced that Mina will improve his side and are happy to take him on a loan or on a permanent deal. At 23, he has a decent experience at the highest level and is perfect for the English game but is he the right man for Wolves?
Santo uses a 3-4-3 system regularly at the club and has Conor Coady, Willy Boly and Ryan Bennett as his first choice defenders for the next season. Roderick Miranda and Danny Bath are backups to the first team stars but Mina is an upgrade on both those names and could even push for a place in the first team.
