West Ham United are looking for a new beginning under Manuel Pellegrini and the Chilean manager has already started making moves in the transfer market. The Hammers have secured the signings of Issa Diop, Lukasz Fabianski and Jack Wilshere. Now they are looking to sign Steven N’Zonzi from Sevilla who is garnering a huge attention in the transfer market.
Arsenal are also in the race to sign him and many consider them as frontrunners given the fact that they have the former Sevilla manager Unai Emery at the helm of the club. However, West Ham are not deterred as they will try tooth and nail to bring him to the club.
We can see Pellegrini shaping up the midfield for next season and a Wilshere and N’zonzi partnership can turn out to be deadly for oppositions. West Ham’s club captain Mark Noble is way past his prime and it will be expected that he won’t play every week for his side.
N’zonzi is currently in Russia representing his country France for the World Cup and any deal regarding his future will only happen after the World Cup.
The defensive midfielder has a good amount of experience in English football as well as he was regular for the likes of Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City. Last season, he was the mainstay for his Spanish side in the middle of the pitch as he made 44 appearances in all competitions and kept things tight and ticking in midfield.
The Hammers were almost dragged into a relegation battle the last term and will be looking to improve from their 13th place finish. They had the joint worst defensive record last season and signing the French midfielder will definitely bring more protection to their defensive line.
N’zonzi’s selection for the World Cup was one of the most hotly debated ones as France opted for him over Adrien Rabiot. However, N’zonzi does bring a lot to a team when he is the middle of the park for his side. He is an excellent passer and is extremely strong on the ball which makes it tough for a defender to dispossess him. He even has that bursting run in him as he can go past defenders with ease.

N’zonzi will be a solid anchorman to have in midfield, however, West Ham will really have to step up their pursuit if they want him as a move to Arsenal looks more likely.
