After much drama over the past month, West Ham United have finally been able to drill out a transfer agreement with Lazio for Felipe Anderson. It is being reported that the Brazilian’s work permit has been granted and the deal is to be finalised as soon as tomorrow. Various reports claim that the transfer fee is within the region of £35m-£40m. Nevertheless, the prolific winger is due to become the 5th signing at London Stadium this summer and that too at a club record-breaking sum.
An astonishing bit of news for the West Ham faithful as this really drives down the impetus that they are set for a better future. David Sullivan seems to have been swayed by the fans’ outrage last season during the 0-3 home loss against Burnley. While David Moyes did manage to guide the side to safety, a change was needed and Manuel Pellegrini has been swift to deliver it.
Anderson has been one of the most lethal wingers in the Serie A and has been instrumental for the Whites and Sky Blues ever since his arrival to the Stadio Olimpico in June 2013. He is a graduate of the Santos youth setup, having made 68 senior team appearances and registered 7 goals.
The 25-year-old is packed to the brim with skill and attacking talent which he uses to set himself apart on the pitch. This past season has been troublesome for the Brazilian due to recurring injuries and a reported bust-up with the club’s head coach, Simone Inzaghi.
Anderson still managed to be impactful with 8 goals and 10 assists in 32 appearances and helped the Eagles to the 5th spot of the Italian top-flight. The Brazilian has racked up over 170 games with Lazio and is ready to take the Premier League by storm.
He has been capped just once for the Brazil national team 17 times for the youth sides but his chances for senior team involvement is due to improve if he hits the ground running on his arrival to East London. Anderson is best suited to play on the flanks and has the creative edge to be impactful from central locations as well.

West Ham are in dire need of wingers with just Michael Antonio and Sead Haksabanovic within the club ranks. Anderson will be able to stretch the pitch and link up with Marko Arnautovic in the attack.
