West Ham United have taken some massive strides in the transfer market and are still not looking to stop as they are being linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro. The Italian midfielder struggled to get game time with the Old lady as he made just 12 appearances in the Serie A last term. His chances could be reduced further as he has got another competitor for his spot in Emre Can.
Juventus are looking to sell some players after a massive coup where they signed Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid. Sturaro is being valued at £18m and along with the Hammers there are quite a few clubs who are linked with him.
His agent recently shed some light on the news about his client’s future. He said,” There are not only the big offers from West Ham and Leicester City, but at least four other clubs are interested in my client. In reality, there’s not the air of an imminent sale. There are several offers on Juve’s table to evaluate. Anything can happen in football because there are in fact many offers. He does not have a favourite destination. Just wait for a decision by Juventus.”
The Italian international has made 90 appearances for the Italian giants in his four-year spell and has often struggled to get playing opportunities. He has been used as a box to box midfielder, central midfielder and even as a defensive midfielder.
The East London outfit has already signed a brilliant all-around midfielder in Jack Wilshere and the signing of Sturaro will definitely make them as one of the teams to watch out for in the Premier League. The 25-year-old is a versatile midfielder as he can play in different roles. It will be interesting to see what role Pellegrini will see him fit if the Italian international makes the switch to the London Stadium.
It is clear that Massimiliano Allegri doesn’t rate him highly and the signing of Emre Can looks like the final nail in the coffin for Sturaro’s career with Juventus. It is definitely time for him to switch his allegiances in search of greener pastures.

It will be interesting to see whether he will be able to adapt to the tempo and physicality of the Premier League. However, from what one has seen over the years, the Italian’s game should suit the style of the Premier League as he is energetic and perseverant along with being calm and composed when on the ball. Having him can give someone like Wilshere more freedom to venture up front and that will certainly bode well for Pellegrini.
