Yaya Toure has bagged almost everything there is to win at the club level. He is a proven winner and a living legend for all those connected and associated with the Ivory Coast.
The Ivorian is a free agent this summer and is looking for a new home to end his career at. West Ham United were keen to sign the player but have now ruled themselves out of the race for the 35-year-old’s signature.
Yaya Toure held talks with West Ham as the Hammers were keen on the player adorning the Hammers squad. Manuel Pellegrini had previously worked with Toure at Manchester City and might have been looking forward to a reunion with the midfielder. However, the Irons have now decided against offering a contract to Yaya as they are skeptical of the fact that he will bring a sense of disharmony into the dressing room.
Toure infamously fell out with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola as he accused the Spaniard of ‘having problems with Africans’. There are always two sides to a coin and perhaps the entire truth behind the story is hidden. Guardiola has not responded to the comments brought upon him. West Ham, however, have decided that Toure’s comments were a sign that the player might attract further discord among those at the London Stadium.
The Hammers signed Jack Wilshere on a free transfer from Arsenal and need to continue at developing their squad. Toure would have made a fine addition to the team and would link up well with Wilshere as the former Barcelona and Arsenal men have the same style of dishing out ‘beautiful football’.
Toure is now on the decline as his age has surely caught up to him. However, at 35, Yaya can contribute to any team that he is under contract with. Be it as a part-time player or full time, Yaya has immense knowledge which he gained throughout his career and would do well to pass on some of his wisdom to the young players of the modern era in football.
In his prime, Yaya could single-handedly run the show in midfield. He had great stamina which allowed his legs to keep moving, finding and making key passes or taking absolutely stunning long distance shots at goal. Toure could still end up staying in the Premier League as the player is well settled to life in England.

With West Ham United dropping their interest in the veteran midfielder, it might, however, not be the end of the road for Toure. There are a number of sides in England and Europe where he can spend the rest of his career before hanging his boots on a permanent basis. Hopefully, he will find one soon enough.
