West Ham United have been a busy club during this transfer market. Former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has already added three fresh faces to the squad from the previous season and reports now suggest that they are close to landing yet another first-team star in the upcoming days.
English international Jack Wilshere, who decided not to extend his stay at Emirates last month, turned into a free agent and was assessing the options for his future. He was a wanted man in Turkey but it is now understood that the Hammers have won the race for his signature.
According to latest reports from The Mirror, Wilshere has already passed a medical with the Hammers and is set to be unveiled as a West Ham player by Monday. He will sign a three-year deal worth £100,000 a week and is expected to be a regular in the Hammers first team next season.
He rose to prominence as a teenager in his first couple of years at Arsenal but he failed to hit such heights, slowly losing his spot in the first team under Arsene Wenger. He looked to have picked up some form last season but the lack of consistency and his injury history saw Unai Emery give him no promises of first-team opportunities going into the new season.
However, Wilshere still remains one of the best creative midfielders in the country at the moment. He can play in an attacking role or in a more central role, where he can not only create chances regularly but can also help dictate the game for his side. He will be one of the most technically gifted players at the London Stadium next season and Pellegrini can have his side playing to Wilshere’s strengths.
At just 26, Wilshere is yet to hit his peak and although he has missed over 150 games since making his senior debut, he has the ability to win games on his own and is a huge asset for Pellegrini.
The Hammers will be without Manuel Lanzini in the next season and have no real replacements for him in the squad. Wilshere may even be an upgrade and will certainly help West Ham compete with the best teams in the country next season.

The experience of Mark Noble and the grit of Cheikhou Kouyate is certainly missing the creativity and if Wilshere can settle in quickly, he can help the Chilean manager make an instant impact on his return to the Premier League. But do you think Wilshere and his injury history was a risk worth taking for a club that seems to have too many players on their treatment table?
