Watford have made some valuable additions in the transfer market already as they have secured the signings of Gerard Deulofeu, Adam Masina, Ben Wilmot and Ben Foster. Now they have completed the signing of Ostersunds midfielder Ken Sema. The fee is yet not clear but the player has joined on a five-year contract at the club.
Arsenal fans will probably remember the name of Sema as he scored the winner for Ostersunds in an improbable victory in the second Leg of Europa League encounter that also happened to be his only goal of last season. He provided 10 assists in all competitions and made 29 appearances for his side.
The 24-year-old has been with the Swedish outfit since 2016 and has played a crucial role in their rise to domestic league supremacy and European football. Not so long ago Ostersunds were languishing in the fourth division of Swedish football. They have seen a miraculous rise under Graham Potter who recently was snapped up by Swansea City for the top job.
Sema has even represented Sweden 5 times, however, he wasn’t picked up for the national squad for the 2018 World Cup. Sema is a versatile player as he can play down the right midfield but his preferred position is that of a left midfielder.
He has blistering pace which allows him to go past his defenders and he uses his strength well which makes it tough for defenders to dispossess him. However, he needs to add more goalscoring threat to his game to reach the next level and be successful in one of the toughest leagues in the world.
Watford had a good start to the season under Marco Silva, however, an interest from Everton for their Portuguese manager changed everything and as a result, the Hornets parted ways with Silva.
They went on to appoint Javi Gracia and the Spaniard didn’t find much success at the Vicarage Road. Watford looked like they will easily have a top half finish last campaign but in the end, they finished at a dismal 14th and would have been dragged into the relegation battle if not for their good start under Marco Silva.

The fee is not clear but it is highly likely that the fee paid will be less than £10m. The player still needs to put in some hard yards before he can be considered as a genuine threat. Premier League will certainly be the biggest test of his career and it remains to be seen whether he will turn out to be a good signing for the Hornets.
