The French Football Association are currently undergoing a golden era in regards of the production of young up-and-coming talent. Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, Thomas Lemar and Anthony Martial to name a few, have taken the football world by storm.
Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon looks set to be joining the likes of these young players as the 21-year-old is now attracting interest from some of Europe’s big teams. The midfielder, who plies his trade with Ligue 1 side Lyon is quickly increasing his credibility with his performances at the Groupama Stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are reported to be interested in signing the youngster as they look to build a team for the present while also keeping in mind the future of the clubs. However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has intervened and put a hasty stop to the growing speculations that the French under-21 midfielder is on his way out of the club. He is determined to hold on to Ndombele and insists that losing important players is not something the club look to encourage.
Tanguy is versatile and can operate either as a central midfielder or as a defensive midfielder. The player shows a good level of work rate and has the stamina to continuously challenge his opponents in the middle of the pitch. He possesses a fine dribbling ability which sees him get past opposition players and tight spaces with ease. He has the ability to slow down or speed up his game according to the situation his team finds themselves in.
A good passing range and physicality make him an asset to have on any team. Ndombele also possesses fine close control when in possession of the ball. Having spent the season before last on a year-long loan at Lyon, the French team made his capture permanent. He made 25 appearances while assisting 4 times.
Ndombele would slot in perfectly at the heart of the midfield with Wanyama or Dembele acting as the deep-lying defensive midfielder. This would give Christian Eriksen the freedom to move up and support the attacks upfield. Ndombele can then support attacks as well as provide the defence with necessary cover.

Tanguy Ndombele has a long way to go if he intends to secure a place for himself on the France National Team. He has age and immense potential in his favour so, for now, he must keep his head down, stay humble and focus on the opportunity to become a household name in French football.
